What is the Safe Hoisting Refresher Course?
The Safe Hoisting Refresher Course is a recognised 2.5-hour refresher training for anyone whose hoisting certificate is about to expire or has recently expired. You refresh the theory, practise with an overhead and finish with an exam. After passing, your certificate is valid for another 5 years. The price is €239 excl. VAT per participant.
With a valid internal hoisting certificate, you continue to meet the requirements set by the Dutch Working Conditions Act (Arbowet) and insurers for working safely with hoisting equipment and lifting tools. This keeps you employable at every work location without interruption.
Who is the Safe Hoisting Refresher Course for?
The refresher course is intended for anyone who has completed the Basic Safe Hoisting Course and wants to renew the certificate. Both individuals and companies can participate, starting from 1 person. The minimum age is 18 years.

When should you take the refresher course?
The refresher course is suitable for employees who already have extensive practical experience with safe hoisting. A previous or valid hoisting certificate is not required to participate.

How long is the certificate valid after the refresher course?
After successfully completing the refresher course, your hoisting certificate is valid for another 5 years. The renewed certificate meets all requirements set by the Arbowet and insurers. Put the next renewal in your calendar right away, so you are never caught off guard.
Is a refresher course legally required?
A refresher course is not literally mandatory, but under article 8 of the Dutch Working Conditions Act (Arbowet) and article 7.18 of the Working Conditions Decree (Arbobesluit), employers must demonstrate that employees are sufficiently trained and instructed to work safely with hoisting equipment and lifting tools. With an expired certificate, you can no longer demonstrate this. This also helps you avoid fines during inspections by the Netherlands Labour Authority.
