The course combines theory and practice, with a strong focus on practical exercises using an overhead crane, and ends with an exam. With the internal hoisting certificate, you meet the requirements set by the Dutch Working Conditions Act (Arbowet) and insurers for moving loads safely. This prevents work from being halted because employees lack the proper certification.

Does this course qualify for Code 95?
No, the Basic Safe Hoisting Course does not qualify for Code 95. The course focuses on attaching, hoisting and moving loads safely and provides you with the officially recognised hoisting certificate, valid for 5 years.

How long is a hoisting certificate valid?
A hoisting certificate is valid for 5 years. This validity period matches the requirements of clients, occupational health services and insurers. After 5 years, you renew the certificate with a refresher course. Please note: a hoisting certificate may be expired for a maximum of 3 months. If it has been expired for longer, you must retake the basic course. So plan your renewal in time.
Is a hoisting certificate legally required?
A hoisting certificate is not literally mandatory, but under article 8 of the Dutch Working Conditions Act (Arbowet) and article 7.18 of the Working Conditions Decree (Arbobesluit), employers must demonstrate that employees are sufficiently trained and instructed to work safely with hoisting equipment and lifting tools. An officially recognised hoisting certificate is the most common and easiest way to do so. This also helps you avoid fines during inspections by the Netherlands Labour Authority.

My certificate has expired. Do I need to retake the basic course?
That depends on how long your certificate has been expired. A hoisting certificate may be expired for a maximum of 3 months. Within those 3 months, you can renew it with a refresher course. If your certificate has been expired for more than 3 months, you retake this basic course.
